Bid To Help Parkinson's Disease

 07 October 2004

An exciting new initiative to raise funds for the Parkinson Disease Society is taking
place at the Law Society in Chancery Lane at 6.30pm on Thursday, October 21 -
the Auction of Promises. During the evening you will be served drinks and canapés
in the sophistication and calm of the Reading Room before making your way to the
Common Room for the Auction. Examples of lots promised by celebrities and
supporters include a champagne trip on the British Airways London Eye in a private
capsule, a year’s supply of beer, a night at the Royal Opera House and two tickets
for an Arsenal home fixture.

The Society are aiming to raise £35,000 to fund a Parkinson’s Disease Nurse
Specialist (PDNS) for a year. Tickets for the event are £35 and for further
information on tickets or any aspect of the evening please contact: Claire Walker,
Events Manager, Parkinson’s Disease Society - Direct Line: 020 7932 1313.

The Parkinson's Disease Society (PDS) is proud to launch this Auction of Promises
- one of our main fundraising events for 2004.
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological condition that affects walking,
talking, eating and indeed everything that most of us take for granted.

Parkinson’s is often seen as an elderly persons’ illness; however approximately one
in twenty people diagnosed each year is under 40.

We hope this auction will raise in excess of £35,000 which would fund a Parkinson's
Disease Nurse Specialist for one year. For more information on the PDS and our
work please visit http://www.parkinsons.org.uk

The Auction will culminate with a Live Auction at the Law Society in Chancery Lane,
London on Thursday 21st October from 6.30pm. For those who are unable to attend
however , bids are being accepted here. You can bid now for any of our promised
lots until Wednesday October 20th at 8pm.

We’ll e-mail you if your bid is beaten, and we’ll keep you up to date on new auction
lots. So register and place your bids now to win one of many prizes to help a
worthwhile cause.

Most of the lots detailed here are being carried over to the Live Auction, therefore, if
you are winning the lot online, you may not be the final winner.
