Obit: George J. Lussier, social worker; at 66 October 31, 2004 ACTON -- George J. Lussier, 66, a psychiatric social worker at the Eliot Center in Concord, died Oct. 24 at his home in Acton. Mr. Lussier was born in Boston and grew up in the city's Back Bay neighborhood. He received his undergraduate degree from Suffolk University and went on to earn a master's degree in social work from Simmons College. Mr. Lussier, who suffered from Parkinson's disease, underwent experimental brain surgery to treat the disease. The surgery was videotaped to help doctors with future surgeries. Mr. Lussier also created a website for those with Parkinson's disease. A resident of Acton since the 1970s, he served as cochairman of the Acton Commission on Disabilities and supported the Acton Arboretum's programs. In his spare time, Mr. Lussier kept active by walking, participating in yoga, and taking part in park and recreation activities. He enjoyed photography, videography, and most especially, his dog, Pinto. Mr. Lussier leaves his sister, Gail of Milton, and a brother, Donald of Boston.
