Greg first I am very happy to see Propostion 71 pass, it only strengthens
the fact that it is not critical for the federal government to use taxpayers
money for embryonic stem cell research. As we have discussed before I am
not against using federal funds for embryonic stem cell research I just
point out that the research will and is going on without it and doing well.
Especially now with a infusion of $3billion in California.

As you are aware adult stem cells have provided therapies and cures for over
140 conditions while embryonic has provided none. Not to say there is no
potential, I agree there is, but I don't think the American public will ever
allow or stand for their tax dollars to be used to conduct research on
embryonic stem cells via IVF or aborted fetuses. As you are well aware the
Dickey Amendment clearly outlines and forbides any human embryonic research
in any form using federal funds. I am pro embryonic stemcell research and
SCNT and advocate for them still.

I think it is time for us to move on and focus on Dr Levesques work with
adult stem cells and also work on securing more private funds for embryonic
stem cell research in the same fashion as California.
