i literally just walked in from my trip to new york to visit friends and attend the michael j fox foundation annual fundraiser and their scientific briefings for a smaller, interested group. charlie and marilyn gehlbach and bernie and lee ford are still there, living it up. i am too tired to give details but suffice to say, i have never, ever seen so many scientists excited about the work being done on parkinson's and the opportunities the fox foundation is providing innovative researchers, working "outside the box" on this. in addition, the foundation raised 4.8 million dollars last night for parkinson research. their board underwrites the fundraiser, at no small cost for 1,100 or so people..so the rather large ticket prices go to the research. just fyi, the fox foundation, in four years of existence has given out close to $50 million in research grants... pretty amazing... a wonderful scientist from nih...environmental area is coming to fox foundation after leading the department at nih. he is a real coup and can only bring an even greater relationship between fox foundation and nih because of his contacts and knowledge of the system. i'm not saying the big event last night wasn't great, it was...and visiting with dear friends and a tiny bit of shopping and going to the theatre, but the high point was the time with the scientists and i'm telling you folks, there is great hope. some long term projects but some short term goals as well. the parkinson work has never before been on the front burner as it is now...so focus on taking care of yourselves so you can be here as the hope turns into reality. i can and will be happy to answer more but right now, after getting "home" in new york at midnight and being picked up in new york for the airport at 3:30 am to return to california, i am just too pooped. we are proud to be planning our 2005 auction-4-action and are already designating some donations to that fund so we can send them a big fat check next year again. when we throw in together it is an awesome sight. by the way, meg, they hope to see you in may. i told them i thought you'd be there. and greg and a.j. i gave michael your best. and, lastly, mort kondracke's book "saving milly" will be a television movie on cbs in march, as i recall. it has been cast and should be a not to miss program. maxine maxine milner krugman the parkinson association 900 fulton avenue suite 100-5 sacramento, ca 95825 (916) 489-0226 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
