A real fly-around Springfield native PAUL WOOD, whose wife says he has a
"passion for aviation," had planned to celebrate his 50th birthday by flying
around the country. But at the suggestion of his wife to "make it count for
something," as she put it, Wood turned the trip into a fund-raiser that ended up
providing more than $327,000 to the Children's Home and Aid Society, a charity on
whose board he serves. Wood, of Lake Forest, took his father, BOB WOOD of
Springfield, along for the ride. "They had a great time," said Wood's wife, former

now, now, i'm just posting something I found on line only I happened to write
it.
This is from the Catholic conservative Illinois Leader paper and not my
headline, they like to write them
The hypocrisy of those who support the War in Iraq and oppose embryonic stem
cell research

I have to pay taxes for an immoral, unnecessary war that has taken the lives
of over 1100 Amricans, over 100,000 Iraqis, over 7,000 wounded, arms and legs
lost, post traumatic stress syndrome because some warriors have learned they
don't like blowing people up.
My cousin who fought in Vietnam, another immoral, unnecessary war, is still
haunted by Viet Cong with the tops of their heads blown off.
The same people who support this war oppose embryonic stem cell research
because they like to confuse it with the abortion issue, pushing personhood back
to a petri dish, griping that it is ineffective and immoral and they shouldn't
have to pay taxes to support it.
If you don't believe in abortion or stem cell research you don't have to have
an abortion or avail yourself of any treatments or cures this important
research might produce. With the war you have no choice at all.
