There is a new web site created by research participants and family members of the Phase 1 and 2 GDNF trials. As you may know Amgen has halted the current trial, due to possible, yet so far unproven safety concerns and results after 6 months that show no difference between the treatment and control groups, according to their analysis. The patients who received GDNF believe they have benefited from it, but Amgen has stopped GDNF treatment from all phase 1 and 2 subjects. Appeals for continued treatment under the FDA's Compassionate Use guidelines are being filed on behalf of these patients. The web site contains the trial participants' very moving stories and has recently added their replies to Amgen's concerns. Please read their testimonials.
