(I'm posting this on behalf of Jean Mason, now of Ryerson University. Jean's a member of the CASLL list but for some reason can't post to it.) ==Margaret Procter.

..........

I'd like to bring the following Job Announcement to CASLL members' attention.
The undergrad Department of Business and Technical Communication (BTC) is part
of the Faculty of Communication and Design (FCAD). BTC is morphing towards a
broader-based professional communication orientation. The graduate program in
Communication and Culture (joint program Ryerson-York) is particularly
interesting and interdisciplinary. Ryerson is a "happening" place in the midst
of a growth spurt. Programs in Fashion Design, Theatre and Dance, Radio & TV,
Journalism, and Image Arts to name a few contribute to a very creative and
dynamic environment. Ryerson is inner city, progressive, community-oriented
and, frankly, a fun place to work. Here's the announcement:

We invite applications for a tenure-track appointment in Professional
Communication. Specific expertise in International Business Communication is
sought. Applications from outstanding candidates having an alternative focus in
contemporary areas of business, technical or professional applied and
theoretical communication are also welcome. The successful candidate will have a
PhD, experience teaching at the undergraduate level and qualification to teach
at the graduate level, a well-established research program, and experience in
curriculum development

Preference will be given to a candidate whose research and publication record
qualifies him or her for graduate supervision. Evidence of effective
undergraduate teaching and of sophisticated curriculum development at both the
undergraduate and graduate levels is required.

Please apply in writing, including:

-curriculum vitae
-sample publication
-statement of teaching philosophy

to: Dr. Susan Cody, Chair
Department of Business and Technical Communication
Ryerson University
350 Victoria Street
Toronto, ON, M5B 2K3

Although the position will remain open until it is filled, to ensure
consideration, please apply by March 21, 2005.

Ryerson University has an employment equity program and encourages applications
from all qualified individuals, including Aboriginal peoples, persons with
disabilities, members of visible minorities and women. Members of designated
groups are encouraged to self-identify. All qualified candidates are encouraged
to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority.
