Sorry to repoprt there is no progress. Amgen is standing firm in their denial of treatment for the GDNF trial participants. See: http://www.pdpipeline.org/focus_updates.htm to read what the University of Kentucky and Bristol, United Kingdom trial doctors have to say about how their patients improved while receiving GDNF treatments and why they want Amgen to reinstate treatment. There is also a video of the British patients before and after treatment. We must tell Amgen that the Parkinson's community is standing behind these patients and we will not tolerate their unethical treatment of these courageous men and women who risked their lives to further the research . The Parkinson's Disease Foundation, Parkinson's Action Network, Dr. Abraham Lieberman, Dr. Donald Gash, and many other prominent Parkinson's researchers are speaking out against Amgen's treatment of the trial participants. The company's justifications for halting the trial and then denying further treatment -- their claims about a "placebo effect" and about safety issues -- are being challenged . You won't be able to read about this in your local newspaper -- most of the media is only parroting Amgen's press release. However you can find the trial patients' and doctors' viewpoints on PD advocates' web sites such as the Parkinson Pipeline Project <http://www.pdpipeline.org/focus_updates.htm> and the Grassroots Connection <http://www.grassrootsconnection.com/grcissue_GDNF_research.htm> This is the true beauty of the Internet. Please support your fellow parkinson's patients. See what you can do to encourage Amgen to reverse its decision and allow reinstatement of GDNF for the trial participants at http://pdpipeline.org/whatucando.htm Thanks, Linda ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
