Due to contraindications such as age, decline in cognitive function, co-morbidity, and other issues (such as the ability to pay for it?), the last figure we saw stated that less than 15% of Peps qualify for DBS at this time.  US puts their figure at about 10%.  Sometimes it does appear as if "everyone" is considering DBS but apparently, this is far from the case.  As with anything, there are probably doctors who do more of them than they should.  As with other things, with age it frequently becomes much more difficult to undergo surgery and more difficult to do things in general as the disease progresses.  These are reasons to have DBS/STN sooner rather than later if eligible for it.
