Rick, that is not the way it is done.  *All* water and food is held.  There
is virtually no hydration.  Morphine is given to ease discomfort.

Hospice studies have shown that death by dehydration is not as uncomfortable
as once thought.  Apparently, giving a little water is much worse than
giving no water at all.  As electrolyte imbalance occurs, the body sinks
into a semi-comatose state..

I've watched this process many times in Alzheimer's patients who refuse to
eat or drink anything.  They die peacefully and quietly.
