listmembers, The US House of Representatives will soon be considering the Castle/Degette bill -- HR 810, the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2005. HR 810 provides for research to be conducted using excess embryos from in vitro fertilization clinics which would otherwise be discarded. It would lift the restrictions on federal funding to only the stem cell lines created before Aug. 2001, imposed by Pres. Bush. Recent polls show close to 70% of voters agree the restrictions should be lifted. Now we just have to convince Congress to act. HR 810 has 181 bipartisan co-sponsors so far. PAN has made it easy to check if your Rep. is a cosponsor and if not, to send them an email Go to http://capwiz.com/pan/issues/alert/?alertid=7092621 and enter your zip code. You can use PAN's letter, edit it or compose your own. You can also contact your local newspaper from this site. Please take action today!
