Tenure Track Positions Available at UBC Okanagan

The Okanagan's new University of British Columbia campus, UBC Okanagan, 
invites applications for up to 25 tenure track appointments, scheduled to 
begin July 1 2005.

Situated in Kelowna, BC, one of the most scenic regions in Canada, this new 
campus will offer faculty an intimate teaching environment and 
opportunities for world class research. UBC Okanagan is embarking on an 
unprecedented period of growth from its current complement of 3000 students 
to 7500 students.

Successful applicants will have strong research records, exceptional 
communication skills, and a commitment to quality teaching at both the 
undergraduate and graduate level. Applications are especially encouraged 
from individuals whose work bridges to one of UBC Okanagan's four 
interdisciplinary research themes

Subject to the availability of funds these positions are budgeted at the 
Assistant Professor level. Applicants with exceptional qualifications may 
be considered for appointment at a higher rank.



English - Creative Writing (Up to 3 positions) Competition CR - We are 
interested in applicants who will welcome significant involvement with 
Creative Writing program development fostered by the newly-created Faculty 
of Creative and Performing Arts.

English (up to 3 positions) Competition EN - We are also seeking applicants 
with research interests complementing those of existing faculty in the 
department: Contemporary International Literature in English, Children's 
Literature, and Rhetoric / Composition.

30-Apr-2005. Documents should be submitted only in electronic format as 
e-mail attachments. Acceptable formats include Microsoft Word (.doc), Rich 
Text Format (.rtf), and Adobe Acrobat (PDF).

Application materials should include the following:

·        Curriculum Vitae listing the following

·        personal information

·        education including post-doctoral research experience

·        professional employment experience including research and teaching 
experience

·        present or prior grants or external funding awarded for research

·        publications

·        proposed program of research

·        statement of undergraduate and graduate teaching areas or courses 
in which you could participate

·        statement of teaching philosophy

·        names of three referees who are able to provide objective 
evaluations and comments on your teaching and research ability and 
background, and on your potential for high quality research in future. It 
is the responsibility of applicants to request letters of reference.
