Hello,

I have just subscribed to this support group on behalf of two special
friends of mine: my childhood ballet teacher who appears to be in the final
stages of Parkinson's and her husband who is being torn apart by it. I am
flying out of state next week to see them both.

The issue for her has been eating. She no longer appears to get sustenance
from food and fades away until they introduce some nutritional fluid through
a vein. Then she temporarily perks up. Her son is a doctor and so he has
felt a strong need to figure it out. Her husband is caught here. He suspects
it is time to let her go but doesn't want to do that in ignorance.

They have been looking for answers for weeks. It appears that the son is
ready to surrender to the limits of what he can do. Perhaps the worst is
over. Maybe not since now it is time for the hospice.

My former teacher knows I am coming though I won't get there until next Wed.
By then she may not be conscious but I will be glad to be there all the
same. I thought I would bring some music we both loved.

Well, I guess I haven't really asked any questions but if anyone has any
particular insight I might share with her husband, that would be terrific. I
will tell him about this support group and bring my laptop with me down
there in case he finds it is something that he would appreciate. Thanks for
listening.

Liz
