JOB DESCRIPTION: New College at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time position in the New College Writing Centre at the rank of Lecturer, starting September 1, 2005. New College is committed to the provision of the highest quality of academic support, interdisciplinary programs, facilities for learning, and residential experience, in ways that will promote and foster diversity, equity and global awareness. The successful applicant will be expected to have: experience in writing instruction, in both one-to-one and group settings; experience in curriculum development and assignment design; familiarity with ESL instruction; a proven sensitivity to students with varying backgrounds. Experience in academic administration and writing instruction in the sciences will be an asset. Duties include one-on-one tutoring in academic writing; leading occasional workshops for groups of students; interaction with classroom instructors with respect to the development and implementation of writing assignments; orientation for incoming students prior to registration; and assisting the Director of the Writing Centre in administrative duties as required. Qualifications should include at least a Master’s degree, and at least two years experience in a University Writing Centre.
