Jeannie, One alternative to non-skid flooring is non-skid socks. Many hospitals issue them to patients and they may be available at medical product stores or specialty catalogs or web sites. A similar product I've always been fond of is a pair of wool socks sewn into leather moccasins. You could find them at L.L.
