Carol,

Try http://fastweb.monster.com, bearing in mind that Fastweb is a VERY
commercial site and once you register you will get lots of
emails...nevertheless, they have some valuable information.

Some things about financial aid in general:
First and foremost, you must fill out the FAFSA, a Federal form, to
determine eligibility for Federal aid. It's a pain, and you need to
estimate income figures since it's due well before tax time. But
without it, you're nowhere. Get that in as soon as possible. For
information, go to www.fafsa.org.

You also must look at what you need to submit in addition to the FAFSA
for each school your child applies to. Many have institutional formulas
for determining aid and these are not necessarily identical to the
Federal formulas...in other words, there is leeway, especially for
colleges with hefty endowments. Some require the Profile form available
on the College Board Web site. www.collegeboard.com.

I would suggest that as soon as your student has decided to apply
somewhere, you call that school and speak with a financial aid officer
about your situation. If you can reach them over the summer while
things are a little less frantic, so much the better. Get to know them.

Good luck!

Kathleen (just finished with kids' college -- whew!)

Subject: college scholarship money for children

I am a single parent with a child who will be a senior in high
school next
year. I was diagnosed with PD 3 and a half years ago. Does anyone know
of any
scholarship sources for children of people with PD? Any suggestions
would be
appreciated. Thanks

Carol
