Six GDNF trial participants have filed a federal lawsuit in Lexington, Kentucky against Amgen, the giant drug company that halted their treatment of GDNF last September. They are suing to have the treatment reinstated, which the patients and their doctors at the Un. of Kentucky say brought great improvement in their symptoms. amgen claimed this was a placebo effect (over 2 years) and that there are possible safety problems. The trial participants would sign a legal waiver if their treatments would be reinstated. The pretrial hearing for Abney et al. v. Amgen, Inc.will be held at the Federal Court House in Lexington, KY on Tuesday, July 5, at 10:00 am. Judge Joseph Hood is presiding. PWP are encouraged to attend to support the GDNF patients.
