Each time we loose a dog it is the same drama. Doesn´t get easier. I surely understand what your feelings are .We lost one dog last winter. Now we have a pup...;-) Animals must have souls or how do you explain this: 3 months ago, our 30 year old mare was late for her morning feed. I saw her come from the woods, walking very slowly. She reached the shelter where the others had eaten but looked so tired I thought I would feed her alone later. 15 mn later, I was working in another field when I heard our 6 donkeys chant. No, they were not braying. I know all their calls but this was an unusual chant. I went down to see and there was our old Jasmine, lying down and giving her last breath the donkeys chanting in a circle around her. The other 2 horses were looking a bit spooked and ready to run away. That donkey-song was the weirdest thing I ever heard. Most animals are a lot more sensitive than humans.
