Each time we loose a dog it is the same drama. Doesn´t get easier.
I surely understand what your feelings are .We lost one dog last winter. Now 
we have a pup...;-)

Animals must have souls or how do you explain this:

3 months ago, our 30 year old mare was late for her morning feed. I saw her 
come from the woods, walking very slowly. She reached the shelter where the 
others had eaten but looked so tired I thought I would feed her alone later. 
15 mn later, I was working in another field when I heard our 6 donkeys chant. 
No, they were not braying. I know all their calls but this was an unusual 
chant. I went down to see and there was our old Jasmine, lying down and 
giving her last breath the donkeys chanting in  a circle around her.
The other 2 horses were looking a bit spooked and ready to run away.
 That donkey-song was the weirdest thing I ever heard.

Most animals are a lot more sensitive than humans.
