Hello everyone,
We are urgently seeking another person to join our Writing-Intensive
Learning team as soon as possible. The position is currently listed as
limited term, running till August 31, 2006, but there is a high probability
that it will be regularized into an ongoing position either before or by the
end of the contract. We need someone at the PhD level but if you know of a
mature and promising candidate who is close to finishing, please pass on
this posting.
We are looking forward to an exciting year, enhancing our practice with
ideas from new people and building on a now well-established good reputation
across the university. While we clearly are not able to guarantee anything
to anyone, we are confident that our unit will grow and be well supported.
Thank you for any contacts you can make to help us find someone who will
enjoy the challenges of SFU's initiative in developing writing in the
disciplines.
I hope to see you at Inkshed this year,

Wendy

SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY
Limited-Term Lecturer Position

The unit for writing-intensive learning at Simon Fraser University invites
applications for a full-time limited term lecturer to participate in the
development and implementation of writing intensive courses across the
disciplines. Our unit has a mandate to assist all university departments
and faculty in developing strategies for the teaching of writing in the
disciplines, to consult on assignment planning and design, and to provide
strategies concerning the implementation of writing as a means of learning
within courses.

We are seeking an individual with a strong background in writing and
curriculum development. Experience in the sciences/applied sciences would
be an asset. PhD or ABD near completion are required. Expertise in the
implementation of writing across the disciplines and faculty in-service
development are essential, as the position primarily requires focused work
with faculty members and teaching assistants across the university
community. Demonstrated success with post-secondary teaching and with
consultative approaches towards pedagogy are critical; successful applicants
will possess excellent communication skills.
