The University of Winnipeg invites applications for a tenure-track
position in its Centre for Academic Writing, which offers an exciting
new Major in Rhetoric and Communications. The position will be at the
rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2006. The candidate
should have a PhD in rhetoric, composition, or communication, or any
combination of these areas, or must be close to completing the PhD. We
will also consider candidates with a PhD (or one close to completion) in
English or Education with a concentration in rhetoric or composition and
expertise in an area such as communication theory,
technical/professional communication, computer-mediated communication,
or communication and culture. Experience teaching undergraduate courses
is a necessity. The successful candidate will teach upper-level
rhetoric, writing, and/or communication courses as well as a range of
discipline-specific first-year Academic Writing courses; will contribute
to course and program development; and will be expected to carry out a
research program. This position is subject to budgetary approval. The
