Mary Ann,

Fairly or unfairly, the buck stops in the White House. Hoover was blamed
for the Great Depression, although he was not responsible and actually
started government programs that became incorporated in FDR's New Deal.

Vietnam - Eisenhower sent advisors that began our stepping into the shoes of
the French. Then JFK sent troops thinking for a small sacrifice there would
be great gain, then LBJ with the phony Gulf of Tonkin Resolution upped the
ante. Nixon finally put an end to our involvement following a "Domino
Theory" that cost us over 54,000 lives.

Whether they are Democrat or Republican, American presidents sometimes have
a tendency to continue the foreign policy of their predecessors. Let's hope
this will not be the case when this woefully unqualified man with no resume
to speak of is finished wrecking the US. The solution is not to keep digging
the hole deeper but to get out.

Bush will take the rap for his slow response in this disaster because he is
out of touch with reality, just like Bush I. That goes with the job.

If it would make you feel any better, Mary Ann, blame me, the messenger.
Note what Rick has said so many times...'the Emperor has no clothes."
Ray
