YES. I HAVE HAD ASSISTANCE FOR 8 YEARS. I AM YOUNG. QUESTIONS NAME, ADDRESS, SS# IMPORTANT., ECT., ASK TO SEE HER DR LICENSE, 3 REFERENCES NOT FAMILY NOR FRIENDS, WHY DID SHE LEAVE HER LAST EMPLOYERS?, WHAT TYPE OF POPULATION HAS SHE WORKED WITH? ASK HER FOR A RESUME'. DOES SHE SMOKE? WHAT HOBBIES DOES SHE LIKE AND DISLIKE? NOONE CAN LOVE EVERYTHING "I AM HERE FOR THE PATIENT." WILL NOT SUFFICE. TIPS -CHECK FOR SPELLING MISTAKES ON THE RESUME -IS SHE ON TIME TO THE INTERVIEW? -CALL HER PREVIOUS EMPLOYERS -MEET HER AT A PLACE OTHER THAN UR HOME. -AGENCIES ARE MORE EXPENSIVE THAN PRIVATE PAY BUT WHEN THE AIDE CALLS OFF THEY PROVIDE BACKUP. - THE AGENCY INTERVIEWS,ECT. BOTH PATIENT AND AIDES - PUT THE CAREPLAN SHEET ON THE BATHROOM DOOR. -TYPE UP A DESCRIPTION AND SCHEDULE FOR THE AIDE(WHO KNOWS HOW TO DO HER JOB?) -TAPE THAT ONTO THE BATHROOM DOOR. -SHE WILL PASS IT MANYTIMES AND LOOK AT IT. THE MORE SHE READS IT THE MORE FAMILIAR SHE BECOMES WITH IT AND DOES THE JOB CORRECTLY. -U HAVE TO SPEAK UP. -DO NOT LET ANY AIDE REDECORATE UR HOUSE FOR U. IT IS UR HOUSE. -DO A BACKGROUND CHECK THRU THE CLERK OF COURTS IN UR COUNTY- IT IS ON THE INTERNET . THE AGENCY ALSO DOES ONE. DO URS ANYWAY. -HIRE A NON SMOKER IF U DO NOT SMOKE. EASIER ON U. -HIRE A STATE TESTED NURSING ASSISTANT AS OPPOSE TO A HOMEHEALTH AIDE. THEY ARE DIFFERENT. EVEN THOUGH THEY DO NOT THINK THEY ARE. - DO NOT LET THE AIDE BRING ANY FAMILY MEMBERS OR FRIENDS INTO UR HOME. THIS IS BUSINESS AND U NEED CARE. - WHEN THAT PERSON SAYS "I WILL TAKE CARE OF UR HOME LIKE I WOULD MINE." NO THANK U BECAUSE I MAY NOT LIKE THE WAY UR HOME IS ARRANGED. THIS IS MY HOME. THANK U FOR UR CONCERN THOUGH. rayilynlee wrote: > Edith, I don't have any questions but am just passing along my experience > for your consideration.
