I wish all people were rational about facing their limitations. In Georgie
Girl, Lynn Redgrave realizes that Alan Bates is just not cut out to be a
husband and father to his child. They part with Bates expressing antic
regret. She makes other arrangements to care for her child by marrrying
James Mason. But very few people can accept they are the ones lacking in
humanity and integrety. One of my wife's more memoriable lines as I sat
rigid in my recliner, "Before I give the left overs to the dog, do you want
any?" I felt I was married to Bette Davis in The Little Foxes.
