Good point, Ted. One thing I can say is that expressing my views here
has helped me get the issues and facts straight in my own mind, so
that my letters to elected officials and to the local newspaper are
better thought out. And I have to thank everybody here whose
thoughtful, if sometimes emotional, comments have helped me get to my
current level of understanding. Since we can access each other's
personal email address from these posts, it seems appropriate to
handle the real touchy or personal issues privately.

Over the time that I've been with this list, there have been several
of those touchy issues discussed here, ones that make people hot under
the collar. But I think it's important to find expression for our
concerns on these issues as well. ESCR, for example, is really
important to this community, and so I'm glad we've had these
conversations. Now, when I call my congressperson, I won't sound like
a 'newb'.

'Newb' is what my son calls people who sign on to an internet game for
the first time.

Enjoy Fall!
