HI Susan

I think I would like to keep my metaphoric comparison mostly because a lot 
of  (not all) academic writing resembles the Mac truck you describe.

And the comparison works because there is a value in bike-- it just doesn't 
carry a lot of weight or go very far very fast.  It means I can open up the 
discussion to what is of value in the 5 paragrapher.

And even leaves some room to poke fun at some of the clunkier stuff in more 
expansive kind of academic writing.
