Advanced Parkinson's caregiver training From Bend.com news sources Posted: Monday, October 10, 2005 10:34 AM Family members caring for a loved one with Parkinson's Disease (PD) are invited to participate in an upcoming workshop dedicated to addressing concerns and issues faced by families as Parkinson's disease progresses. Parkinson's Resources of Oregon, a regional support and advocacy agency, is offering this informative and successful one-day workshop. The workshop will be held 10 - 3 pm on Saturday, October 29th, at the St. Charles Medical Center, Room D. 2500 NE Neff Rd., Bend, OR. Registration is $15 and includes lunch and all course materials. The advance stage of Parkinson's disease may last anywhere from several months to several years. Intensive, around-the-clock assistance is usually required and most often is provided by family. This workshop will prepare family members and caregivers to approach the advance stages of the disease with more assurance. It is estimated that as many as 25,000 individuals in Oregon and SW Washington live with the diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease, a progressive, incurable neurological disorder. For 25 years Parkinson's Resources of Oregon (PRO) has been providing services to individuals in Oregon and southern Washington whose lives have been touched in some way by this debilitating disease.
