Scott,

 I remember some years ago there was a research study done on the power of
prayer and heart patients in San Francisco.  Those who had been prayed for
did better than those who had not and no one knew they were being prayed
for.  My guess would be that the pray-ers were believers, but I don't know
for sure.  Of course, there are charlatans who claim faith healings.

There was also the case of a young boy who had some awful kind of cancer who
survived after getting thousands of get well cards. They had to stop people
from sending them.

Non-traditional religions would say it is the power of intention or
consciousness at work.  Let me know if you ever hear of anyone with PD being
cured by prayer.
