Your DNA from the chromsomes in the cell nucleus came equally from either of the parents. Males get the small y from their father, and the unbalanced X comes entirely from the mother.

Another exception is the mitochondria, they are thought to have once been an invading species, then became a symbiont, as they produce the energy for the cells use. They have their own DNA, outside the nucleus. The sperm has no mitochondria, all your mitochondria comes entirely from the mother. A recent discovery was that one type of diabetes is inherited only in the mothers line, as defective mitochondria. Male baldness and some other disorders are usually inherited only from the mothers line, even though she is not bald, because it is on the X chromosome. If you have a Y, it came from Dad, therefore the X is from Mom.

Maryse, I don't know, just think I read it somewhere, something about mitochondrial DNA Ray
