There may be not one cause but several. The fact that there are more cases of 
PD in the īgreen beltsī points to pesticides or fertilizers. But PD existed 
before intensive agricultural techniques so chemicals may not be the only 
cause.
As for trauma, it can cause parkinsonism, not quite the same. The spanish flu 
also left lesions that were similar to PD but were parkinsonism. Difficult to 
draw the line since PD is itself a syndrome and has different forms.
One common factor may be inflammation but the reasons for this inflammation 
may be different.
