Just catching up and saw this...

It sounds as if it is low blood pressure, however if it is a breathing problem:
I was with Matt James (a beautiful singer and voice coach) who went on the NPF cruise to work with
those having speech and voice problems.

We were at dinner and he asked the waiter for one of the straws that you get when they serve you
drinks...the kind you stir with but don't really drink from. He then showed me that if you take
deep breaths in and out of this straw, you will have no choice but to use your diaphragm rather than
your lungs. If you put your hand on your abdomen when you do this you will find your abdomen will
expand more than your chest which is a more effective way to get more air into your lungs. This
practice has always been taught to singers, actors and public speakers. It should also provide more
volume when speaking.
Believe me (and I used to be able to do yoga breathing) it is NOT easy, but it is worth trying.

Subject: Re: Breathing exercises

Hi everyone

I would still like someone to send me the breathing exercises for my dad
who is 81 and is having problems with his breathing. When he stands up
he becomes short of breath and this frightens him. Can anyone help
please?

Thank you

Barbara
