There's an old theory I heard in the Advertising community.   It states 
that people do their best work just before they have a mental breakdown. I 
understood that to mean that the fatigue and intensity of focus of a 
marathon work session causes a tunnel vision that sharpens focus and 
excludes distractions.  Injuries might have a similar effect.   -Geo.
