NOTICE re INTERNET ARCHIVE REED E-TEXTS In October 2004 REED agreed to contribute a copy of its first 24 published volumes to the Internet Archive web site (http://www.archive.org/), making the research available to scholars worldwide. In return, REED has received copies of the scanned text for all contributed volumes. This is a first step towards the project's own development of a more reliable, hypertext version of the volumes. REED cautions users of the Internet Archive searchable text files that formatting of the texts has not been preserved in all details and that the texts have not been proofed and may contain scanning errors. However, after almost a year of experimentation with scanning and site development, the Internet Archive declares itself satisfied that texts of the first 24 volumes in the REED series have been fully uploaded and that users will be able to access these interim electronic texts for publications from York (1979) through Oxford (2004) without confusion. Volumes subsequent to Oxford, beginning with Wales (2005), are not yet available. To access the REED e-texts on the Internet Archive site, go to Texts from the Home page, click on Canadian Libraries and search on REED to pull up the volume list.
