David,
My neuro tried to put me on an S.S.R.I. (selective seratonen reuptake inhibitor) for at least a year and I told her "no, i don't need it, I'm not depressed". Then one day she told me. Its not ONLY for depression it could improve your Parkinsons by up to 30 %. Because I trust my neuro, (She is director of clinical neurology at Univ.
of Michigan) and because she has not been wrong with me yet, I tried it. She put me on Zoloff, although she likes Effexor as well, and in the very beginning it gave me a little nausea, but i worked thru that. My system got used to it in about two weeks and now i don't have any problem with nausea and she was right it did improve my parkinsons, I noticed it but also my co-workers noticed it. I talked to a Neurologist at Loma Linda that tells me the very first thing after receiving the diagnosis should be an S.S.R.I. But then what works for me may not be what is right for others, this is Parkinsons, after all, and that seems to be a very "custom made" disease.

Diane,
Could you tell us more, please? There are some bad things written about
SSRI's. I have just started experimenting with venlafaxine (Effexor),
which is an SNRI, but I'm finding it very hard going.
