Donald Kennedy, editor-in-chief of Science ? the renowned science journal that published Hwang Woo-suk's paper on customized stem cell cloning in May of this year ? says he is confident the content of Dr. Hwang's research was correct and that Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation "had no credible claim at all." In a telephone interview with the JoongAng Ilbo, Mr. Kennedy said that Science conducted sufficient investigations of Dr. Hwang's paper before accepting it. According to Mr. Kennedy, various data including photographs of the stem cells were sent to specialists in highly credible stem cell research centers, both in the United States and overseas, where they went through strict verification procedures.
