The team page is up, the challenge is out, and we are on our way to attempt the impossible. Unify young onset worlwide for the 2006 Unity Walk in New York! We are asking for everyones support, regardless if you are able to attend the walk in New York or not. We challenge all of you to join the team to show support for this effort. When you join you get your own website from which you can raise critical funds for Parkinsons research. Remember 100% of your donations is used for PD research and it is tax deductible (donaters will recieve a letter from the Unity Walk with their tax identification. We are encouraging our international friends to join as well. If there is no objection I will have Jim McCumber design a new unique Young Onset Unity logo for the front of the shirts, each organizations log will go on the back with each walkers name. If your organization or group are willing to take part in this unification attempt, putting egos and past disagreements in the past, please sign up as follows: 1) Enter one account designating your organization name; 2) Have each member, to include yourself, create an account in their name as well (this will ensure they get a Unity Walk shirt as well as a Team Young Onset United shirt. It will also enable whover volunteers to plan a group dinner to have a head count. Hotel Rooms In the past we have setup group rates for a hotel close to the park and close to the action of New York, HYPERLINK "http://www.wellingtonhotel.com/"www.wellingtonhotel.com is great. Airfare We also setup group air rates with United in the past , and gathered everyones emaill and cell numbers to make sure nobody got left out. We need volunteers for all of this. QUESTIONS & ANSWERS If an organization agrees to join this "unified effort" except for having our org.'s name listed on the team page at Unity Walk's website, in what ways do you plan to promote this statement of unity among our orgs and within the PD community? * Each organization will have its logo on the reverse of the team T-shirt along with the names of each walker and any corporate sponsors * A new "Young Onset Unity" logo will be on the front; * Jim McCumber designed YOPA man and all our other logos and shirts and our website, we can have him design a logo OR * Hold a community wide contest and pick the best one * As each team joins the effort a newsblast will be sent out via each organizations email lists; * Emails will be sent to the directors of the BIG 6 organizations; * GrassRoots Connection.org will post a story on the effort; * NWPF will be contacted; * We can release a nation wide press release via the press software I have; * We can setup a "gateway" link from each site to a page that shows the logos and links to those on board; the center of the page will have the link to the Team site on the Unity Walk website, each organization will provide a prominent link to the 'gateway" page on their websites; * NOTE: All press releases will be approved by each organization prior to release Question: How do we avoid confusion of donors or potential donors that may be committed to contributing to our individual orgs, i.e. Young Parkinson's, Movers & Shakers, Northeast Parkinson's, YOPA, Colorado... vs contributing to Team: Young Onset Unity? * Normally a donor gives to an individual walker; however, in the event of a major donation or sponsor donation; have them donate online using your organizations name. When they click on it and donate they have the option to have their name scrolled on your organization page (each of us will have an organziation page and each walker or supporter will join using their name (for example Young Parkinsons.com is listed but so is Tom Berdine. I will place donations that come into us in support of YoungParkinsons.com into our organization link and will put donations made to me under my linkk. * NOTE: We are encouraging those who can not make it to the walk to join the team to show support and also to help raise funds in their name via the online website we each receive; * We have some custom made donation forms we can send to each organzation so members can collect off line (mail in) donations as well (each form will have the new logo as well as the names and/or logos of each participating organization; Question: If our organization agrees to join team: Young Onset Unity, along with other orgs, who shall be the spokesperson for the team? * Very good question. Do we need one spokesperson? I would think each director would be a spokesperson for their organization; * For example if Movers & Shakers wants to notify the local news about the event obviously you would be the spokesperson (however you would mention the other players involved) * Email: We can setup a custom email such as HYPERLINK "mailto:[log in to unmask]"directors@young_onset_par kinsons_unity.com * The email would then be auto forwarded to each of our personal emails; * The question I think you are getting to is "Who is in charge?". * We would have a "Team Directors" council that would meet at least monthly via a tele conference; They would also be in direct contact with one another via email. A 2/3 vote would solve any issues that may come up; * Every Team Director would be an equal; * Interviews etc: In the event the press calls for an interview the "Director" in that area will be the spokesman; however they will identify the other organizations involved; In the event we are interviewed at the Walk in New York we will try to have all directors present; * In the event the interviewer only wants one director, the Directors will vote; Question: Will the main team page for Young Onset Unity contain a listing of the individual orgs and a contact person for each in the event that the media or individual wants to reach that org, other than the list of links to those individual team pages? We can post a form or forum where members can find suitable room mates; * The gateway would also have a link to the airlines showing up to date pricing; * We need a volunteer to contact the airlines and see about a group rate using one of your EIN numbers for a non-profit group.
