Amanda, That's exactly what I proposed when I first joined this group 5years ago, I even put up a draft of the ?aire, which was quite comprehensive - a copy s/b in the PIEN archive. I was dissillusioned by the response and felt that the eventual ?aire [c/o Edith and Mario] did not cover enough. Many of the people in this group are preoccupied with medications and surgical procedures, which only manaage the symptoms and have nasty side effects, and the incessant emails on ESCR. I am more convinced than ever before that the cause/s of PD are man made; not only this but MS, MND, ME etc. For a long time people have accepted that 'the shaking palsy' as observed by Dr. James Parkinson is part of the aging process, in older persons (.>65), and premature degeneration, in younger persons (<50). Yet, when I was diagnosed, april 1993, aged 43, and told, " we don't know what causes it and there is no cure", unbeknown to me was that an anti-depressant which I had been taking [1988-1990] was known to induce PD. This important fact was missed because the Neurologist was following a procedure seriously lacking on the personal history data gathering. In gathering material to support my case I have discovered that DDT was known to cause PD, in the 50's, and banned; another agrochemical, Lindane, also banned. I feel that the Pharmaceutical co.'s are making obscene profits out of our misery; also so called specialists too. It's almost 200yrs since Parkinson wrote his essay and 40yrs since L-dopa; and nothinngs changed, if anything it's worse. The UK's leading Specialist said to me, " we don't know whether Sinemet accelerates the decline or PD itself"! I recently found out that Pergolide[permax] is going to be withdrawn because of fatal side-effects. To take on the might of the Pharmaceutical industry would be foolish. Therefore, to identify and iradicate the cause/s of PD, is the most effctive cure possible short-term. Hence, the need for more detailed case histories, databases etc. I am determined to complete my paper by this Easter and send it to a leading UK Professor for review and backing. I think you're in the UK too. regards, Marco ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
