As many of you have probably heard (from my yearly reports), each year I
have a fundraiser for Parkinson Disease. For many years, I worked with
the Parkinson Alliance using them as my not-for-profit group and getting
the benefit of all of their great resources. Last year, my group,
CALIPSO (Central IL. Advocates of Lives Interrupted by Parkinson’s
Support Organization) decided to go it on our own so that all of the
money we raised could be donated to local research and to help those in
the PD community here in Central Illinois. I have always received the
loyal and wonderful support of PWP from all over America and overseas
also. This year, I’m going to ask for your help, too.

We are going to have a local celebrity auction off baskets that we will
put together in either $100, $250 or $500 increments. This means that
the products or the services provided in each basket will total either
$100, $250 or $500.

We will ask a local celebrity to auction the baskets during our
entertainment portion of the day’s events. What I am begging for is
this: if you have a talent or ability to make something that you would
like to donate and have me include it in a basket, please let me know
asap what that item is, when you could have it done to mail to me and
the retail value of this item. Or if you have a bunch of things that all
run along the same theme (in the past, we have had baseball, sports,
pamper yourself, hair, teddy bear, gourmet food and wine baskets) and
would like to donate a basket, I would deeply appreciate this kindness
or if you would like to sponsor a basket, please let me know. Your name
will be featured on the item’s i.d. bidsheet and also on our brochure
and entry forms that we print and hand out by the all over central
Illinois.

If this is something that you might be interested in doing, please do
not hesitate to contact me. Last year, among other projects, we were
able to donate $10,000 to my friend and stem cell researcher at Bradley
University, Dr. Craig Cady to help his lab in their tireless quest to
find a cure for PD thru cord blood stem cells, bone marrow stem cells
and rat stem cells and I cannot tell you the sense of pride and humility
that sweeps over me each time that I think that I have done something
(albeit a small thing) to help us find a cure. Please think about it and
let me know!! I’m waiting to hear from YOU!!
