HTML is a richer format, allowing different fonts, pictures, graphics, etc.
Plain text is preferred in many message groups due to the fact that plain
text files are much, much smaller.  Graphics, etc., add greatly to the size
of messages (a few kilobytes vs. many megabytes), and this clogs up people's
mailboxes and servers.It also is easier to transmit, and detect, viruses and
spyware in HTML.
