It took two tries to get disability in our case too.  That seems to be the
norm.  At least we have heard that is the case.  Deny it the first time and
I would imagine a number give up and don't try again.  Or at least it delays
things a bit.  So don't be surprised if you are denied the first time.  If
at first you don't succeed . . .
