In the past there was opposition to autopsies, vaccinations, blood
transfusions, organ transplants, IVF and heart surgery, so it is not
surprising people freak out at the"yuck" factor of ESCR or SCNT or ANT.
I'm sure I've omittted something.

People were burned at the stake for heresies.  At least this is only fines
and incarceration.  So far no one is getting the death penalty.  This may be
all the progress we get from Arizona, Mississippi, Georgia....

There are always enough people to subvert progress, usually in the name of
religion.  Since religion is such a very powerful force, the "Enlightenment"
or "Age of Reason" may prove to be only a passing fancy in human history.
