For those of you interested in state stem cell squabbles: After much wrangling and a Republican filibuster which was stopped after 5 hours the State of Maryland finally passed a bill authorizing funding of ESCR although as a compromise as much attention and $ had to be given to ASCR. The source of the ESCR will be surplus IVF embryos. Proposition 71 in CA is still stalled in litigation. The Alameda County judge told the "pro-life" plaintiffs that their case was weak. Prop 71 was passed in 2004 and not one dime has yet gone to research.
