According to a story on WEEK-TV 25, the NBC affiliate in Peoria, Il: "Disease Impacts Congressman's Work March 16th, 2006-US Representative Lane Evans has been unable to perform most of his Congressional duties over the last montth because of complications of his Parkinson's Disease. The Rock Island Democrat's office says he hasn't attended any committee hearings or meetings since February 14. Spokesman Steve Vetzner says Evans has missed 33 votes during that time. Vetzner says Evans was hospitalized for a short time after feeling ill in mid-February. Veyzner says Evans is able to walk and plans to return to work soon because he is feeling better. Evans was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1995. Vitzner says Evans has no plans to abandon his re-election bid.
