There is no basis upon which any of those 8 people should poiint the finger at Mirapex.

First, the incidence found in the mirapex group was not significantly higher (it was barely higher at all, and it was lower than other estimates i read) than that of the general population.

Second, levodopa has been associated with obsessive compulsive behavior for ever, and all of the gamblers were on sinemet.

Third, even the fact that the behavior started sometime after the Mirapex did does not allow us to legitimately put the blame on its shoulders, because as i will point out in part II, given that they were all on sinemet, too, unless you observe the same behavior at an elevated level [significant, preferably] among a group of people who are on a DA alone, there is no way anyone can say that the fault is the DA's alone because it is entirely possible that the problem came about because the DA and Sinemet were combined, i.e.., too much dopaminergic activity in general.

Fourth, in the absence of any data supporting your thought that pathological gamblers show their colors before the age at which most of us are diagnosed, i would argue that other factors, such as depression, which have been shown to have a correllation to gambling, would be more compelling, as would living in (or moving to, perhaps) an area in which there were a lot of casinos.

there can be no harm in being watchful - but there is zero evidence, as far as i am concerned, that gambling is a bigger danger w/DAs than it is just in general.

If I ever do start on it I will ask my friends to keep an eye out for
behavior changes. That's a good idea for any drug actually.
