Susan B. Anthony List makes false claims:

I assume you are referring to Dennis Turner who got a reprieve from his PD
symptoms for about 5 years. I talked to him by phone March 24 2006 and he
confirmed he was worse than ever. Also, Turner was Phase I, Phase II of
Dr. Levesque's experimental study is stalled due to not meeting certain
research standards, although Turner opined it might be due to lack of
funding.

The 2nd phase II "growth factor" study sounds like the GDNF study that has
nothing to do with adult stem cells. But then you fail to identify the
studies.

I have had Parkinson's disease for 10 years and do not expect a cure from
anything in my lifetime, but it really angers me that you see fit to
misrepresent the truth in your zeal to stop embryonic stem cell research.
Currently their are no treatments for Parkinson's disease that utilize adult
stem cells. Rayilyn Brown, Surprise, AZ [log in to unmask]

HERE IS THE FALSE INFORMATION:
"Parkinson's patient treated with his own adult stem cells continues to
exhibit relief from 80% of his symptoms more than 6 years after his surgery.
A Phase I human clinical trial using this therapy is currently underway."

A Phase II clinical trial is underway in human patients using a growth
factor to stop the destruction of neurons in the brain. In the Phase I
trial, patients showed 60% improvement in their symptoms."
