It's not a matter of free speech.  It's a matter of staying on topic.
Personally, I don't mind straying off topic once in awhile.  When it comes to
subjects like the current Iraqi conflict, however, it can be frustrating.  So
many people want express their opinions about it, but those opinions are so
often based on ignorance or political persuasion that what otherwise could be
an intelligent conversation instantly becomes a shouting match.  We in the PD
community are united through enough common concerns without letting arguments
of this sort divide us.  Scott
