Job Description: The University of Toronto invites applications for a 
Contractually Limited Term Appointment (CLTA) at the rank of Assistant 
Professor in the Writing and Rhetoric Program, commencing September 1, 
2006. This is a non-tenure stream position for a limited term of one 
year, renewable once, for a maximum of three years (2006-07, 2007-09).

The Writing and Rhetoric Program is seeking applicants with demonstrated 
excellence in teaching university-level courses. Applicants should have 
teaching and research experience in some combination of the following: 
writing, rhetoric, composition, professional and business writing, media 
studies, prose style, critical thinking, editing. Preference will be 
given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Writing and Rhetoric, Professional 
Writing, English Literature, or a related field and a record of 
excellence in research and teaching.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Writing and Rhetoric, 
Professional Writing, English Literature, or a related field. Extensive 
experience marking undergraduate essays and the ability to teach both 
lower-level and upper-level undergraduate students are essential. 
Candidates should show evidence of research and/or professional 
development. Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

Applicants should arrange for three referees to send a letter of 
recommendation under separate cover to the address below. The letters 
must be received by the deadline for receipt of applications. Applicants 
should send a curriculum vitae, writing sample, and teaching and
