My sheep are organically raised - no pellets whatsoever, only pure grains are used. I would agree with you about control measures for Scrapie except for the fact that I've had sheep since 1979 and I know of only *2* cases. One of the shepherds (a vet) who had lost 6 prize winning sheep demanded that they be autopsied when the QQ gene was discovered in them. Not a single case of Scrapie was found. She was furious. ------------- Mary Ann (CG Jamie 66/26 with PD) www.bentwillowfarm.org ----- Original Message ----- > hey mary ann > > i think the cullings are usually explained as being necessary because it > is > impossible to tell which animals are infected because of incubation > periods. its been the same story with mad cow, hoof and mouth, sars, > etc. scrapie sounds a lot more contagious than mad cow. is it possible > to feed your sheep a vegetarian diet? -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
