Sherry, welcome to the PD list. We hope that you will find comfort and
support here.

Your father might be experiencing Parkinson's Disease psychosis - a rather
common problem in certain PWP (people with Parkinsons). There are
medication that can control your father's behavior and his physicians should
be ordering them. Also, some Parkinsons meds cause hallucinations and
psychosis - especially Mirapex. Please access the PIEN web site and check
out the medications your father *should not* be prescribed as they increase
PD - the most famous of which is Haldol.

Many of the caregivers on the CARE list have talked about the effectiveness
of Seroquel, Zyprexa and Clozaril - all of which can be given in small doses
to decrease PD psychosis.

The Parkinsons Information exchange network (PIEN) address is:

Good luck and God bless you.
Mary Ann Ryan (CareGiver of Jamie 66years old/26 years with PD)
