Dow Jones News: A company in Edmonton, Canada has developed a urine test to detect prion diseases in animals, including in humans. They expect to be on the market in 2 years with a test for C-J, scrapie, mad cow, the chronic wasting disease and ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE(!). The test detects prion proteins as well as the precursor prions which indicate a susceptibility to prion disease. If they have identified a link between Alzheimer's and prions we're only a step away from prions<~>PD! I missed this message. Yes, of course. All of these diseases (kuru, C-J, scrapie, Mad Cow) are spongiform encephalopathies. The point is that no one at the time--even once they discovered the connection and the etiology--could put their fingers on the agent of disease. They chalked it off to a virus, which is what many people do when they don't know what else to blame a disease upon. Scott At 11:27 PM 7/22/2006, M.Schild wrote: >: > > Yes.
