Pam,

If you have had PD for fifteen years I would imagine that you experience slowness and stiffness along with any other symtoms you may have. If so, you probably don't move around during sleep as much as you once did. I am 54 and have been diagnosed for 11 years, and my primary symptoms have always been slowness and rigidity. After the first few years I increasingly have had problems sleeping through the night because the muscles stiffen after I go to bed as meds wear off and I move very little. The result is that I generally wake up in pain throughout my body from muscle stiffness. I used to just get up and move around to walk it off. Now I dose immediately before bed, then have a half dose and a tylenol (no caffiene) on the nightstand to take when I wake up in the middle of the night. I have found this to help immensely in getting a relatively pain-free night of sleep.

I rarely post but read everything that is posted on this list. I was
always healthy until recently and it seems like I am constantly going to
the doctor, but I think that is part of the aging process. I was
diagnosed with Parkinsons at age 50 and am 65 now. Lately I seem to have
a lot of pain. It really started when I bent over to pick something off
the floor. I attributed that to old age; however, I seem to hurt all the
time. I wake up at night and I hurt all over. Many times I get up and
take something for the pain but then I can never get back to sleep. I am
wondering if anyone is experiencing this problem. Would appreciate your
suggestions and comments.
Pam
